Courtney Starrett
Biography
Courtney Starrett is an artist working at the intersection of art, craft, and technology. Her work is in permanent collections and cited in the Springer Handbook on Human-Computer Interaction (2023) chapter Data Physicalization (Dragicevic, Jansen, and Vande Moere, 2019), published in journals such as Leonardo (MIT Press), Metalsmith Magazine, and How Design Magazine; and texts such as Cast: Art and Objects. With Susan Reiser, Starrett coined the term data materialization to describe a sub-genre of data art which utilizes data to connect concept through form and material. Starrett is associate professor, Adams Interdisciplinary professor in Visualization at Texas A&M University.
