Alexander Zook
Biography
Alex Zook researches the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to augment simulation and game design and development practices. As a researcher he's worked on systems for generating (simple) complete games, analyzing game strategic spaces, tailoring games to players, and enabling computers to be computational playmates. At Blizzard Entertainment he worked on: reinforcement learning agents for game balancing and adversaries; simulations for modeling game economies; matchmaking systems for competitive games; recommender systems for player achievements; and player modeling. At Unity Entertainment he applied metalearning to sim2real problems (using a simulator to perform well in the real world) with a focus on computer vision and robotics tasks. At NVIDIA he is working to enable the use of AI inference in simulators, with a focus on translating developments in generative AI (2D and 3D content specifically) into tools for developers.
