Birate Sonia is a second-year student at the University of Virginia, where she is pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Her academic interests extend to research, and she is presently engaged as a research assistant at her university. In this role, she applies machine learning and data analysis techniques to investigate the responses of drug treatments on prostate cancer cells. Beyond her academic pursuits, Sonia plays a significant role in her university's Black community. She serves as the political and cultural chair for the Organization of African Students and is an active member of the Black Student Association.
