Biography
Young J. Kim is a full professor of computer science and engineering at Ewha Womans University. He received his Ph.D. in computer science in 2000 from Purdue University. Before joining Ewha, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests include interactive computer graphics, computer games, robotics AI, haptics, and geometric modeling. He has published more than 100 papers in leading conferences and journals in these fields. He also received the best paper awards at the ACM Solid Modeling Conference in 2003, the International CAD Conference in 2008, and the best poster award at the Geometric Modeling and Processing Conference in 2006. He was selected as the best research faculty and Ewha fellow of Ewha in 2008 and 2016, and the best lecturer at Ewha ELTEC engineering college in 2023. He received outstanding research case awards from the Korean national research foundation and the Korean Ministry of Knowledge and Economy in 2008 and 2011. He is currently the president of the Korea computer graphics society and an executive committee member of Eurographics. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, the International Journal of Computational Geometry and Applications, and Advances in Robotics Research.
