  • SIGGRAPH Asia 2023 presents the Junior Computer Animation Festival (CAF), an innovative program meticulously crafted to foster emerging talent within the computer graphics and animation sphere. With a broader mission to enhance engagement from underrepresented demographics, including youth, women, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, across the domains of science, technology, arts, and design, this initiative stands as a collaborative partnership with BESydney, the NSW Department of Education, Fizzics Education, and illustrious partners.
  • Two age categories have been curated – Junior (8 – 13 yrs) and Senior (14 – 18yrs)
  • The competition is also an opportunity to empower educators to upskill and deliver computer animation classes in the classroom, making computer animation an accessible curriculum
  • The inaugural competition is made possible through strategic collaborations with Refraction Media, Fizzics Education, and the SISP program for comprehensive program moderation and facilitation.
  • The brief and invitation for interested students to showcase their two-minute animation began in July. The review of finalists and winner selection is scheduled from 7-10 November.
  • Entries can be submitted in any of the following categories:
    • Computer Animated Shorts
    • Animated Feature Films
    • Music Videos
    • TV and Web Commercials
    • Visualisations and Simulations
    • Visual Effects for Films and TV Programs
  • The Finalists will enjoy exclusive access to SIGGRAPH Asia Computer Animation Festival, along with a tour of various segments like the Art Gallery, XR, and other relevant programs. The winning animations will also be displayed prominently throughout the event.

  • Title: Webinar Series
    A two-part series, thoughtfully designed to complement the Junior Computer Animation Festival, will showcase distinguished experts from the industry. Among them are luminaries like Rob Coleman, a Creative Director and Animation Supervisor with Academy and BAFTA nominations, who will share insights into their illustrious careers and professional journeys.
