Vibrotactile Invisible Presence: Conveying Remote Presence through Moving Vibrotactile Footstep Cues on a Haptic Floor
DescriptionWe propose concept to convey presence by transmitting footsteps and vibrotactile cues from one space to another. Our prototype uses floor-mounted microphones to capture footsteps and underfloor transducers to create moving vibrations elsewhere. Preliminary experiments showed that users can partially perceive the direction and trajectory of the transmitted vibration source.
