General Event Questions

SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 will take place from 1 – 4 December 2026. Here are the opening hours for attendees:

All conference programs and the exhibition of SIGGRAPH Asia will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, 50088 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

December in Kuala Lumpur is typically warm and humid. Daytime temperatures average around 30°C (86°F), while evening temperatures can drop to about 23°C (73°F).
December falls within the rainy season, with frequent afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall averages around 250mm for the month, with rain expected on most days.
Kuala Lumpur uses a voltage of 240V and a frequency of 50Hz. The plug type is G, which has three rectangular prongs in a triangular pattern (the same as the UK). If your devices use a different plug type or voltage, you may need a plug adapter and/or voltage converter.

Kuala Lumpur is considered one of the safest major conference destinations in Asia. Standard urban travel precautions apply, such as securing personal belongings in busy areas and exercising standard awareness when traveling at night.

Yes. Many widely used international AI tools and platforms, including ChatGPT, are accessible in Malaysia. Visitors can generally continue using their usual AI-powered tools for research, productivity, communication, and creative work while traveling.

Yes. Common services such as Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps, Microsoft services and major social media platforms are generally accessible in Malaysia.

No. English is widely used as the primary language in business, hospitality, official signage, and international transport hubs. English will be the official working language of SIGGRAPH Asia 2026.

Dining, Drinks & City Life

Kuala Lumpur offers a lively mix of restaurants, cafés, rooftop bars, lounges, and entertainment venues, particularly around KLCC, Bukit Bintang, Changkat, Bangsar, and other central districts. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner, drinks with colleagues, or somewhere to unwind after the conference, there are plenty of options across the city.

Yes. The KLCC precinct and surrounding city centre offer a wide variety of dining choices, from local Malaysian cuisine and international restaurants to hotel lounges, cafés, and bars. Alcoholic beverages are available to non-Muslim adults at many licensed establishments.

Absolutely. Kuala Lumpur offers an extensive culinary scene catering to diverse dietary choices and religious guidelines, including Halal, Vegetarian, Vegan, Jain, and Gluten-Free cuisine across hotel facilities, the venue, and nearby dining precincts.

In most cases, yes. International credit and debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, shopping centres, restaurants, and established retailers. Contactless and digital payments are also common. It is still useful to carry a small amount of Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) for smaller vendors or incidental purchases.

Dress Code & Cultural Etiquette

Venue interiors are fully air-conditioned and can feel cool, so light layers are advisable. General City Attire: Standard summer casual wear (t-shirts, lightweight trousers, dresses) is appropriate outdoors due to Malaysia’s tropical climate.

Kuala Lumpur is a modern, cosmopolitan city, and everyday attire is generally relaxed. Lightweight clothing is practical for warm and humid weather. More modest clothing is recommended when visiting religious or culturally significant sites.

Yes. The city is home to beautiful mosques, temples, churches and other religious sites, many of which welcome visitors. Simply follow the guidance provided at each location, including dress requirements or removing shoes where requested.

Yes, tickets can be purchased onsite at the venue. However, we strongly encourage registering online to avoid queues. Only credit card payments (AMEX, Visa, MasterCard) will be accepted. You can purchase a ticket online during SIGGRAPH Asia, from 1 – 4 December 2026, but please note that on-site rates will apply.
Credit card (AMEX/VISA/MasterCard) is the only mode of payment.
You may purchase the Full Access Pass as an ACM student member to enjoy the discounted student rates.
Full Access Pass (ACM Student Member): You must provide your membership number to receive the discount. This ticket allows access to the in-person sessions at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. ACM SIGGRAPH member discount does not apply to those who are members of a chapter only.

Visa/Entry Requirements

Nationals of approximately 90 countries and territories can visit Malaysia without a visa/entry permit for a period ranging from 14 days to 90 days depending on nationality. For the latest guidelines and any special exclusions, please refer to the Malaysia Immigration Department’s official website.

Travel & Safety

There are currently no special health declarations, testing, or vaccination requirements for entry into Hong Kong. Attendees are encouraged to follow standard hygiene practices and check for any travel updates closer to the event date.

Venue

The venue – Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is approximately 70 – 85 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) by public transport. Click here for the Klang Valley MRT System Map.
By Klang Valley Rail Transit (Train) – Take the ERL KLIA EKPRESS or ERL KLIA TRANSIT from KLIA T1/T2 to KL SENTRAL – Transfer to LRT Kelana Jaya Line to KLCC LRT Station.
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is located in the heart of the city, adjacent to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and within walking distance of several key transit points.
Visitors arriving via Monorail can disembark at the Bukit Nanas Station, then take a short walk or taxi ride to KLCC. Alternatively, from Kuala Lumpur Sentral, the city’s main transportation hub, visitors can take the Kelana Jaya LRT Line directly to KLCC Station, which is connected to the convention centre via an underground pedestrian walkway.
For those arriving by the KTM ETS High-Speed Rail service from other Malaysian cities such as Ipoh, Penang, or Johor Bahru, the terminus will be at KL Sentral. From there, simply take the Kelana Jaya Line to reach KLCC.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the venue with a capped speed of 5Mbps per device.
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is fully accessible, featuring wheelchair ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms throughout the venue. Designated parking and seating areas are available for people with disabilities. The centre is connected to the KLCC LRT Station via a wheelchair-friendly underground walkway. Assistive services and hearing support may be arranged upon request.

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is situated in the city center with seamless transport links: Public Rail: Directly connected via the LRT (Kelana Jaya Line – KLCC Station) and MRT (Putrajaya Line – Conlay / Persiaran KLCC Stations). Ride-Hailing & Taxis: Services such as Grab operate extensively throughout the city with transparent, pre-fixed pricing.
