Integrating OpenUSD and Real-time Rendering for Japanese 2D Anime Production
Description3DCG R&D advancements continuously improve animation, making it more efficient and of higher quality. However, in Japanese anime production, these technologies are not always directly applicable. Bridging this gap requires an understanding of the unique challenges in Japanese anime workflows and, at times, customizing tools to meet specific needs. This session will explore the contrasts between Western workflows, where many of these technologies originated, and the needs of Japanese anime studios, with the goal of bridging these two worlds.
The session will provide case studies and practical insights, including:
OpenUSD: Differences in 3D workflows between Western studios and Japanese anime studios, with a focus on the need to convert USD files for cross-software editing.
Real-time Rendering: Considerations for rendering elements for the next compositing process, handling outline integration, and managing storage and file structures.
