SUMMARY:Integrating OpenUSD and Real-time Rendering for Japanese 2D Anime
 Production
DESCRIPTION:Takeshi Okuya (Waseda University)\n\n3DCG R&D advancements con
tinuously improve animation, making it more efficient and of higher qualit
 y. However, in Japanese anime production, these technologies are not alway
s directly applicable. Bridging this gap requires an understanding of the
unique challenges in Japanese anime workflows and, at times, customizing t
ools to meet specific needs. This session will explore the contrasts betwe
en Western workflows, where many of these technologies originated, and the
needs of Japanese anime studios, with the goal of bridging these two worl
ds.\n\nThe session will provide case studies and practical insights, inclu
ding:\n\nOpenUSD: Differences in 3D workflows between Western studios and
Japanese anime studios, with a focus on the need to convert USD files for
cross-software editing.\nReal-time Rendering: Considerations for rendering
elements for the next compositing process, handling outline integration,
and managing storage and file structures.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanc
ed Access, Full Access, Full Access Supporter\n\nLanguage Format: English
 Language, AI Translation Multi-Language\n\n
