Ozan Cakmakci leads the optical design and architecture group focusing on augmented reality optics at Google, where he previously led next-generation Google Glass optics. He served as a technical due diligence member for augmented reality investments totaling several hundred million dollars. Ozan received his Ph.D. in Optics from the Center for Research in Optics and Lasers (CREOL) at the University of Central Florida (2008). He has published numerous papers (3,200 citations) and holds 82 issued patents in augmented and virtual reality optics. Ozan also teaches at Stanford Continuing Studies, offering a course on augmented and virtual reality optics.
