Kumiko Kushiyama is a professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University. She completed graduate studies in Art at the University of Tsukuba. After founding Growth Co., Ltd., she served as a JST PRESTO Researcher and Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. She became a professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University and earned a Ph.D. in Design. She is a board member of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan and editor of IPSJ's DCON. Her research specializes in interactive art, virtual reality, and haptic display development. Since 2000, she has exhibited at SIGGRAPH and Ars Electronica.
