Libby Hazell
Biography
Libby Hazell is a long-time collaborator of Wētā FX, working client-side on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

She went on to work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and other projects before taking a career break to raise her two daughters.

Libby returned as Wētā FX crew in 2018 to be VFX Producer on the company’s first-ever Netflix project, The Umbrella Academy, and has gone on to manage all Wētā FX’s work across its four seasons.

After being instrumental in a number of multi award-winning projects, such as the Academy Award nominated Nyad, her work on Ripley earned Libby an Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in 2024.

Hailing from London, Libby draws inspiration from the elegant use of VFX in story-driven masterpieces such as Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Alex Garland’s Ex Machina.
