Biography
Eftychios is a Professor of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which he joined in January 2011, where he is also an Associate Chair and Director of Graduate Studies. Prior  to  that,  from  2007  to  2010,  he  was  a  post-doctoral  researcher  at  the  University  of  California,  Los Angeles,  jointly  appointed  to  the  departments  of  Mathematics  and  Computer Science. He obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2007, and BSc degrees in Computer Sciences and Mathematics in 2000 and 2002, respectively, from the University of Crete, Greece. Eftychios has consulting relationships with NVidia Corporation, and Disney Research|Studios
His current research revolves around computer graphics, physics-based modeling/simulation and scientific computing. He is particularly interested in the development of algorithms and numerical techniques that can facilitate the efficient and accurate simulation of part s of the human body, with focus on applications in biomechanics and virtual surgery.
