Tomohiro Amemiya is a professor at the Information Technology Center at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He obtained his Ph.D. in bioinformatics from Osaka University in 2008. From 2004 to 2019, he served as a researcher at the NTT Communication Science Laboratories. His research interests include haptic perception, tactile neural systems, and human-computer interaction using sensory illusions. His accolades include the Grand Prix du Jury at the Laval Virtual International Awards 2007, the Best Demonstration Award at Eurohaptics 2014, and the Best VR&AR Technology at ACM SIGGRAPH Asia 2018.
