Arata HORIE obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tokyo University of Science and his Master's in Engineering from Tohoku University in 2019. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 2022. Following this, he became a Project Assistant Professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at The University of Tokyo. In 2023, he began working on the Cybernetic Being project under the Japan government's Moonshot R&D program. His primary research interests lie in haptics and inter-subjective experiences. Beyond academia, he founded commissure Inc., a startup specializing in haptic technology.
