Biography
Ryu Furusawa lives and works in Tokyo. Artist and surfer. He uses digital manipulation and physical intervention in the imaging process to reconstruct time and space and transfer the standards of perception of viewers. The resulting ephemeral landscapes erode the viewer’s physical senses and heighten awareness of physical sensations inherent in our perception of reality.
Exhibitions include the solo show Mid Tide (ArtSpaceKimura, Tokyo, 2024), and the group exhibition ICC Annual 2024 : Faraway, so close (NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], Tokyo,2024).
He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Film and New Media Studies at the Graduate School of Film and New Media,Tokyo University of the Arts, received a grant from Project to Support Emerging Media Arts Creators, Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan in 2023, and received Prix Ars Electronica 2024.Since 2015, he has also been active as part of the artist collective “YOF.”
