Yu Yu Hakusho: How Megalis Created the Show’s Most Complex Shot

DescriptionEpisode 4 of the Netflix manga series Yu Yu Hakusho sees Kurama and Karasu battle it out. Visual effects studio Megalis brought the rope whip and invisible bombs to the fight and crafted the most complicated shot in the series. It consisted of eight different plates stitched together, blending live-action photography with computer-generated imagery.
Guided by VFX journalist Ian Failes from befores & afters, Megalis artists will explain their approach to tackling this complex shot and how they were able to pull it off. Can you tell which parts are real and which are CG? Find out in this behind the scenes session.
