Meet Yoshiyuki Miyamae, Design Director at A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE, Hiroaki Kitano, Executive Deputy President and CTO of Sony Group Corporation, and Jinko Gotoh, Oscar-nominated producer and Vice President of Women in Animation, as they share their unique perspectives on innovation and creativity.

About Yoshiyuki Miyamae:
Yoshiyuki Miyamae joined the Miyake Design Studio in 2001 and worked as a member of the original team that started A-POC, which was led by Issey Miyake and Dai Fujiwara. He was the designer of ISSEY MIYAKE from 2011–19, and he launched TADANORI YOKOO ISSEY MIYAKE in the autumn of 2020. For A-POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE, he leads a team of experts to engage in research and development.

Hiroaki Kitano
Executive Deputy President and CTO, Sony Group Corporation

About Hiroaki Kitano:
Hiroaki Kitano is Executive Deputy President and Chief Technology Officer of Sony Group Corporation, overseeing the R&D ecosystem across Sony`s diverse business domains including electronics, semiconductors, and entertainment. He concurrently serves as Representative Director and President, Sony Research Inc. and Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL). As an AI expert, Kitano also serves as a member of the UN AI Advisory Body, the OECD Expert Group on AI Futures, Singapore’s Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data, the UK’s expert advisory panel for the International Scientific report on Advanced AI Safety, and Japan’s AI Strategy Council.
His work at Carnegie Mellon University to build large-scale data-driven AI systems on massively parallel computers led to The Computers and Thought Award from the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) in 1993. His research contributions continued at Sony CSL and at California Institute of Technology in the field of systems biology, merging biology and systems science. Kitano is the Founding President of the RoboCup Federation, served as president of IJCAI (2009-2011), and is a member of scientific advisory boards for numerous academic institutions, including the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and a professor at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate School.
He is a recipient of the Nature Award for Creative Mentoring in Science in 2009 and a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. Kitano was an invited artist for La Biennale di Venezia (2000) and for Workspheres exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art – New York (2001).
Jinko Gotoh

About Jinko Gotoh:
Jinko Gotoh is a BAFTA winner and an Oscar-nominated producer and consultant for the animation industry. Her strengths and passion include discovering and nurturing diversified creative talent and charting new technologies and creative processes.
Jinko Gotoh is a BAFTA winner and an Oscar-nominated producer and consultant for the animation industry. Her strengths and passion include discovering and nurturing diversified creative talent and charting new technologies and creative processes.
Born in Japan, Jinko’s passion for animation sparked at an early age after two profound experiences: a viewing of Lady and the Tramp and a resounding meeting with Astroboy‘s creator Osamu Tezuka.
Her extensive producing screen credits include 2020 BAFTA winner and Oscar-nominated Klaus, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, BAFTA winner The Little Prince, Oscar-nominated The Illusionist, 9, and Oscar-winning Finding Nemo.
Jinko started her feature animation career as the CGI producer on Space Jam. Jinko then became the Director of Digital Production at Walt Disney Feature Animation, overseeing the inevitable move to CGI animation and its extensive application on Dinosaur and many more films, including VFX work for The Secret Lab. Since leaving Pixar in 2003, Jinko’s assignments have taken her around the globe, working for major studios and independent films.
Jinko is devoted to advancing women and all underrepresented people in the industry. She serves as vice president for Women in Animation and as a Board of Governors for The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. She is also a member of BAFTA, DGA, and PGA and serves on various committees for these organizations. Beyond that, she is also a founding board member of the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra, which provides K-4 music education to underserved neighborhoods.
Jinko is a frequent speaker at various conferences and festivals. She has also served as a juror for many film festivals, including Annecy Animation Festival, SIGGRAPH, Chicago International Film Festival, Goa International Film Festival, and most recently, at the inaugural Niigata International Animation Film Festival.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Math and a Master of Fine Arts in Film from Columbia University.
Jinko was an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University School of the Arts in the fall of 2021.
She is also a published poet and the happy rescuer of many dogs.
