Call for Papers
This is the first time SIGGRAPH Asia in Tokyo will present an Art Papers program! The conference theme, “Curious Minds,” applies to both artists exploring new technologies and critics evaluating their effectiveness and meaning. In following our curiosity, we artists have misused the system, hacked devices, devised unusual algorithms and processes, and expressed new colours and forms. What motivates our curiosity, and what are the consequences of our efforts? Why obsess over something that no one else seems to care about, or doesn’t have immediate or practical value? Why do something that someone else finds disturbing? Why here and now? Why you? What roles do artists and critics have in shaping the future of computer graphics and interactive techniques? The Art Papers program invites to share your ideas in short or long papers in Tokyo.
The Art Paper Program accepts articles in the following categories:
- Projects and case studies
- New technologies and methods
- Histories and theories
- Critical media practices
- Prognostications, speculations, warnings, alternate futures

- Visual, interactive, procedural, narrative media arts

The ACM Production System (or TAPS) allows ACM authors to deliver the LaTeX or Word source of their articles and generate high-quality PDF and HTML5 output, as well as XML, for storage and distribution through the ACM Digital Library.
The introduction of the consolidated ACM article template in 2017 was an important building block for the future of the ACM Digital Library, as it made more consistent the underlying metadata that is a part of an author’s source material – the LaTeX commands and Word styles an author uses in the preparation of their article defines the various parts of their article: the title, the authors, the section headings, and so on. More information on the ACM article template, including links to the templates and “best practices,” can be found at this link.
Kindly refer to this website for a comprehensive guide on how to prepare your paper.
All contributors to SIGGRAPH Asia Annual Conferences are now required to use ACM’s rights management system to grant rights to publish accepted content rather than through the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System. Essentially, submission tracking, jury review, and acceptance remain the same, but now the rights management is through ACM, the parent organization of SIGGRAPH Asia.
You will be asked to complete an ACM rights management form, which includes permission to record and distribute the audio and video of your recorded presentation through official channels of ACM/SIGGRAPH Asia. For most content types, this will be a Permission and Release form, which allows authors to retain copyright
As a contributor to an ACM-sponsored event, the following expectations apply to you, should your content be accepted for presentation:
- You have the permission to use everything that is in your presentation. This includes securing permission to use third-party material, and providing documentation of that permission to ACM.(More Information On The Proper Use Of Third-Party Material In Your Presentation)
- If you are using copyrighted musical compositions in your presentation, you must secure performing rights licenses.
- You must have the authority to grant ACM the right to distribute your presentation.
Once your contribution is accepted, you will receive a link via email to the appropriate form for your contribution.
Presenter and Contributor Recognition
Please see the Recognition Benefits for a summary of what you will receive if your work and/or proposal are accepted by SIGGRAPH Asia 2024.

All work selected for the SIGGRAPH Asia Art Paper will also be documented in the SIGGRAPH Asia website and ACM Digital Library.
