- XR as interwoven Mediality: Where technology, culture and experience are interlaced into meaning, such as projects where meaning emerges from the relationship between media elements, and not a single technology.
- Cultural Weaving: Heritage, Memory and Living Traditions, where XR is grounded in local cultures, crafts, rituals, and lived heritage, and works that treat culture as dynamic, evolving and not archival.
- Collective Weaving: Social, Collaborative, and Participatory XR, where collaboration is shared, and XR experience is shaped by collective participation.
- The work must demonstrate a novel or substantially advanced XR techniques and experience.
- Spatial setup and equipment requirements must be clearly defined (size of area, power requirements, display, posters, etc.).
- At least one presenter must be available on site at all times during the exhibition.
- Submissions may employ any form of XR and may integrate additional sensory modalities, including (but not limited to) touch, sound, smell, or taste.
- At least one staff must be present during the opening hours of the XR area (Exhibitors are prohibited to leave the exhibition in the hands of student volunteers: SVs).
- We do not permit SVs to operate expensive equipment.
- We do not permit asking SVs to procure equipment or materials for setting up demos.

Before Submitting
Before you prepare a proposal, please carefully review these topics of interest for SIGGRAPH Asia Extended Reality (XR). Ideally your submission should be:
- Extended Realtiy (XR) experiences in art, science, medical, research, entertainment, engineering, training/education, gaming, and other application areas, It demonstrates a unique type of interactive and immersive experience that my influence our day-to-day lives, improve or relationship with each other and the world around us.
Submission Content Type
The SIGGRAPH Asia XR program is interested in submissions that can be an interactive one-on-one experience, a group experience, or a presentation that features a few participants with multiple onlookers, and can be explored interactively on a personal computer or mobile device with a head-mounted display (HMD) with minmal setup
Submissions
To make a submission, log in to the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System, select “Begin New Submission”, and then select the “Create” button in the General Submission form. You will be asked for:
- The submitter’s name.
- Contact information, affiliation, and title of work.
- Name of all authors, including co-creators.
- List of credits.
- Hardware and software required to run your project if it is selected. You will be required to bring your own equipment to demonstrate your application.
- Size and space requirements (floorplan). Submit detailed layout of space needed for installation, including power requirements, exact dimensions of floor space and height lighting, audio Common tables (5′, 8′) and chairs will be provided according to your request without additional fees. If you require special equipment or furniture, write the specifications.
- Lighting needs. It is important and help us understand any light-sensitive aspects should these be relevant to your submission.
- Electrical requirement. Please include how many outlets and any specifications (i.e. electrical power required for each equipment).
- Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the venue, with speeds capped at 5 Mbps per device. If higher bandwidth or a dedicated internet connection (wired/wireless) is required, these services can be arranged through the official stand contractor at additional costs upon conditional acceptance of your submission.
- How long will the activity take an attendee to complete (approximately).
- How many attendees can participate simultaneously (approximately).
Submission Materials
It is important to help us understand how the project will engage attendees during SIGGRAPH Asia. Please include the following information:
- An abstract (two page maximum), following the ACM SIGGRAPH Formatting Instruction, in PDF format. In the abstract describe the user experience with the demonstration and how the submission fits within the Extended Reality vision.
- At least one “representative image” suitable for us in the conference website and promotional materials. See Representative Image Guidelines.
- A two-mintue segment of caputed video from your project. This video can include multiple non-continuous edits (like a trailer), but do not use any post-production tools to enhance the images or speed. Files must be QuickTime, MP4, Windows Media, or AVI files larger than 250 MB. All videos must be uploaded to the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System. No discs or drives will be accepted

- This program seeks artworks that use computational methods or critically engage with today’s information environment. We will evaluate both the artistic impact and the concepts and technical approach behind the work. Please submit your work as an artwork, not as a technical demo or a design presentation.
- Emerging Technologies
- Place for innovative technologies that provides novel experiences
- Often features new hardware devices that cannot be purchased
- Works usually focus on technology with design/artistic intent being secondary
- “Maker” mentality
- XR
- Features novel AR / VR/ MR prototype systems and/or innovative content with off-the-shelf consumer products and software such as Unity or the Unreal Engine
- Works also focus on novelty of the technology with design/artistic intent
- Submissions with scientific focus are also acceptable
- How interactive is the project? Does it require attendee participation and interaction?
- Is the submission able to engage and immerse an attendee in an experience? Does the installation, demonstration, or performance inspire awe?
- Does the experience utilize new technologies, processes, and research from the past 18 months? Does it push the boundaries of creativity?
- Will multiple people be able to participate at the same time? Does the installation, demonstration, or performance invite audience participation?
- Is the content being shown of high quality? Including the visual and audio element, immersion, and storytelling elements.
- You have the permission to use everything that is in your presentation. This includes securing permission to use third-party material, and providing documentation of that permission to ACM. (More Information On The Proper Use Of Third-Party Material In Your Presentation)
- If you are using copyrighted musical compositions in your presentation, you must secure performing rights licenses.
- You must have the authority to grant ACM the right to distribute your presentation.
- You must complete the ACM Rights Management Form. The form will be sent to all submitters whose work is accepted.
- Your representative image and text may be used for promotional purposes. Several SIGGRAPH Asia programs will prepare preview videos for pre-conference promotion of accepted content, which may include a portion of the video you submitted to review.

Q6. Can I display a visual poster of my work on it in the exhibit?
Q7. Will SIGGRAPH Asia pay for any duty or taxes on international shipments?

At The Conference

Q4. Can I get request help from Student Volunteers to help me operate my equipment?
No. The main form of presentation in the XR venue is a live demonstration, which will be available throughout the conference. You are responsible for ensuring that your demonstration is manned during all opening hours of the XR area.
If the booth is left unwatched for prolonged periods, contributors will risk having their accepted work revoked and removed from ACM Digital Library and SIGGRAPH Asia.
Please kindly note that if you require additional assistance to watch and operate your equipment or art piece during exhibition hours, contributors shall arrange for additional manpower prior to the event. There will not be dedicated Student Volunteers assigned to your booth(s).
