Art Papers Theme: Entangled Agencies
In a time when human and machine intelligences are increasingly interwoven, creativity no longer begins or ends with a single hand. The SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 Art Papers program, under the theme “Entangled Agencies,” explores the shifting dynamics of control, collaboration, and co-authorship between artists and computational systems.
What happens when artists cede partial control to algorithms, or when machine logic reshapes the boundaries of expression? As generative tools evolve beyond simple instruments and become creative agents in their own right, we are called to reimagine the role of the artist. No longer just a solitary originator, but as a negotiator in a dynamic network of intentions, aesthetics, and ethics.
From speculative futures to historical foundations, we’ll explore how media artists are reshaping the technological landscape.
