SUMMARY:What’s New for SIGGRAPH Educators in CS2023: Undergraduate Compute
 r Science Curricular Guidelines
DESCRIPTION:Educator's Forum\n\nSusan Reiser (UNC Asheville) and Jeff Lait
  (Side Effects Software)\n\nThe Computer Science Curricula 2023 (CS2023) w
as endorsed in early 2024 by their sponsoring organizations: the Associati
on of Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE Computing Society (IEEE CS), and the
Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). The do
cument was produced over the course of four years and is the collaborative
work of approximately 100 volunteers from six continents. In keeping with
current curricular design principles, the guidelines incorporate a compet
ency model (what is learned) in addition to the traditional knowledge mode
l (what is taught). This talk is geared to anyone interested in computer s
cience graphics education who would like to learn more about the guideline
s and related on-going computing curricular efforts. We will describe the
organization of CS2023 and the Graphics and Interactive Techniques Knowled
ge Area including its new Knowledge Unit: Society, Ethics and the Professi
on.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanced Access, Full Access, Full Access Su
pporter\n\nLanguage Format: English Language\n\nSession Chair: Miho Aoki (
University of Alaska Fairbanks, ACM SIGGRAPH)
