SUMMARY:What’s New for SIGGRAPH Educators in CS2023: Undergraduate Compute
 r Science Curricular Guidelines
DESCRIPTION:Susan Reiser (UNC Asheville) and Jeff Lait (Side Effects Softw
are)\n\nThe Computer Science Curricula 2023 (CS2023) was endorsed in early
2024 by their sponsoring organizations: the Association of Computing Mach
inery (ACM), IEEE Computing Society (IEEE CS), and the Association for the
Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). The document was produced
over the course of four years and is the collaborative work of approximate
ly 100 volunteers from six continents. In keeping with current curricular
design principles, the guidelines incorporate a competency model (what is
learned) in addition to the traditional knowledge model (what is taught).
This talk is geared to anyone interested in computer science graphics educ
ation who would like to learn more about the guidelines and related on-goi
ng computing curricular efforts. We will describe the organization of CS20
23 and the Graphics and Interactive Techniques Knowledge Area including it
s new Knowledge Unit: Society, Ethics and the Profession.\n\nRegistration
Category: Enhanced Access, Full Access, Full Access Supporter\n\nLanguage
Format: English Language\n\nSession Chair: Miho Aoki (University of Alaska
  Fairbanks, ACM SIGGRAPH)\n\n
