SUMMARY:ChemistryVR: Enhancing Educational Experiences through Virtual Che
 mistry Lab Simulations
DESCRIPTION:Guanxuan Jiang (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
, Guangzhou; University of Sheffield); Xuansheng Xia (Boston University, X
 i'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University); Yue Li (Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool Univ
ersity); Hai-Ning Liang (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, G
uangzhou; Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University); and Pan Hui (Hong Kong Uni
versity of Science and Technology, Guangzhou)\n\nExperiments are an essent
ial component of chemistry education. However, they often demand significa
nt equipment and space and can sometimes pose safety risks. Immersive and
interactive simulations in Virtual Reality (VR) offer a solution to these
challenges. Therefore, we developed a virtual laboratory based on the nint
h-grade chemistry textbook published by the People's Education Press in Ch
ina. The system includes safety training and step-by-step tutorials, enabl
ing students to learn through interactive simulations and observations of
realistic experimental phenomena in a safe environment. Hands-on practice
of chemistry experiments in VR helps prevent dangerous and unexpected outc
omes caused by experimental errors. Our system provides a risk-free approa
ch that effectively supports practice-led and experiential learning in che
mistry. Additionally, our system integrates theoretical knowledge with pra
ctical applications, aligning meticulously with the official textbook. Thi
s comprehensive approach enables students to seamlessly transition from th
eory to practice, enhancing their understanding of chemistry concepts. Con
sequently, students are better prepared for both standardized assessments
and real-world laboratory experiences.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanced
Access, Full Access, Full Access Supporter\n\nLanguage Format: English Lan
guage\n\nSession Chair: Haoran Xie (Japan Advanced Institute of Science an
 d Technology (JAIST), Waseda University)\n\n
