SUMMARY:Constructing Immersive Narrative Environments with Physical Intera
ction: 17th-Century European Fascination with China
DESCRIPTION:Xiruo Wang (University College London (UCL))\n\nThis paper exp
lores the idealised ancient China envisioned by 17th-century Europeans thr
ough surrealist interactive narratives within virtual spaces. The VR inter
active game Moonlit Windows immerses players in a narrative environment fe
aturing integrated physical interaction. Through literature review and his
torical research, the theoretical analysis of surreal aesthetics describes
constructing a virtual space, including context-specific worldviews, inte
raction mechanisms, and artistic elements. Feedback from participants coll
ected during the exhibition led to iterative improvements in interaction d
esign and sensory immersion and contributed to the discourse on interactiv
e narrative design in VR.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanced Access, Full
