 rate Japan's vibrant design culture, participants in this workshop will us
 e the novel Depict Collect Select (DCS) framework to design a Mascot Chara
 cter for Siggraph Asia 2024 Tokyo. This is a hands-on session of iterative
  character design for beginners, aspiring designers and design educators.\
 n\nDuring the session, you will quickly fashion effective design outcomes 
 as you draw, sculpt, scan and discuss your work. Draw on paper or in digit
 al space; sculpt with plasticine or online; gather reference using natural
  and artificial senses; and capture objects with photogrammetry or LIDAR. 
 Participants will receive a small gift and the attendee with the best char
 acter design will go home with a custom designer-toy prize.\n\nOpen-minded
  participants are encouraged to use traditional methods to draw and sculpt
 , and art materials will be supplied. You are also asked to have apps load
 ed on your phone or mobile device as support for this: for Generative A.I.
  (such as Chat GPT) and for photogrammetry/LIDAR (such as 3D Scanner App o
 r Kiri). Simple online 2D and 3D software (including Canva and Project Neo
 ) will also be discussed.\n\nThis will be a fun, supportive, informative s
 ession; your presenter is a character designer and academic with over 20 y
