SUMMARY:Debate Generation System in Japanese Rap Battle Format
DESCRIPTION:Ryota Mibayashi (University of Hyogo); Toru Urakawa (Asahi Shi
mbun Company); Dai Takanashi (Dentsu inc); Kanata Yamagishi and Tomoya Mor
ohoshi (Dentsu); Ryuho Sekikawa and Yasuhiko Nishimura (Think & Craft, Den
tsu Creative X); Yuta Takeuchi (Dentsu); Mina Shibasaki (Tokyo Metropolita
n University); Hideaki TAMORI (Asahi Shimbun Company); and Takehiro Yamamo
to and Hiroaki Ohshima (University of Hyogo)\n\nWe propose a "Debate Syste
m in Japanese Rap Battle Format." Our goal is to elevate discussions into
entertainment, encouraging people of all generations to form their own opi
nions.\n\nThis system generates two distinct opinions (lyrics) when presen
ted with a discussion topic, and based on these opinions, agents engage in
a debate in the form of a rap battle. The system's technical composition
incorporates several innovative elements:\n\n1. Lyric (Opinion) Generation
: The system creates lyrics that represent opinions on the given topic. A
unique feature of this process is its consideration of rhymes specific to
the Japanese language. This ensures that the generated content not only co
nveys meaningful opinions but also adheres to the rhythmic and phonetic pa
tterns characteristic of Japanese rap.\n\n2. Contextual Awareness: The sys
tem is designed to understand and maintain the context of the ongoing deba
te. This contextual awareness enables coherent and relevant exchanges betw
een the agents, simulating the flow of a real debate or conversation.\n\n3
. Responsive Utterances: Building on its contextual awareness, the system
generates responses that directly address the opponent's previous statemen
ts. This feature creates a dynamic, interactive debate environment, where
each agent’s contribution is influenced by and responds to the other's arg
uments.\n\n4. Beat-Adaptive Audio Synthesis: To enhance the rap battle exp
erience, the system incorporates audio synthesis that adapts to the underl
ying beat. This synchronization between the generated lyrics and the music
al rhythm results in a more authentic and engaging rap performance.\n\n5.
Integration into Audio-Visual Performance: All these elements—generated ly
rics, contextual responses, and beat-synchronized audio—are combined to cr
eate a comprehensive audio-visual performance. This integration transforms
the debate from a mere exchange of words into an entertaining and immersi
ve experience.\n\nThe culmination of these technical components results in
a unique performance where complex debates are conducted through the medi
um of a Japanese rap battle, offering an innovative blend of technology, l
anguage, and music.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanced Access, Full Access
, Full Access Supporter\n\nLanguage Format: English Language\n\nSession Ch
air: Takahito Tejima (Polyphony Digital Inc.)\n\n
