 rom the basic sciences of mathematics and physics, and nurtured by human i
 ngenuity.\n\nFor the first time in history, the Internet has created a tru
 ly global single space. This has profound implications for our society, ou
 r economy, and our way of life.\nOne of the most striking features of Inte
 rnet Civilization is its speed. The speed of light provides a latency of j
 ust 133 milliseconds between any two points on the planet. This has enable
 d new forms of communication and collaboration that were unimaginable just
  a few decades ago.\n\nFor example, Internet Civilization has made it poss
 ible for people to play games with each other in real-time, even if they a
 re on opposite sides of the world. It has also made it possible for doctor
 s to perform surgery on patients remotely.\nIn addition to its speed, Inte
 rnet Civilization is also characterized by its distributed computing capab
 ilities. This means that the Internet can be used to pool the computing po
 wer of millions of devices around the world. This has enabled new applicat
 ions such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.\n\nThe next fro
 ntier for Internet Civilization is the Interplanetary Network (IPN). The I
 PN will connect Earth to other planets and moons in our solar system. This
  will create a truly galactic civilization, with humans living and working
  on multiple worlds.\n\nThe discussion of Internet Civilization at ACM SIG
 GRAPH will explore the challenges and opportunities of this new frontier.
