Both methods gene rate geometry within a layer between a base mesh and its offset mesh calle d a shell. It is not easy to simultaneously achieve high ray tracing perfo rmance, low memory consumption, interactive feedback, and ease of implemen tation, partly because the mapping between shell and texture space is nonl inear. This paper introduces a new efficient approach to perform accelerat ion structure traversal and intersection tests against micro-triangles ent irely in texture space by formulating nonlinear rays as degree-2 rational functions. Our method simplifies the implementation of tessellation-free d isplacement mapping and smooth shell mapping and works even if base mesh t riangles degenerate in UV space.\n\nRegistration Category: Full Access\n\n Session Chair: Sing Chun Lee (Bucknell University)\n\n URL:https://asia.siggraph.org/2023/full-program?id=papers_575&sess=sess155 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
