The Design Space of Kirchhoff Rods

DescriptionThe Kirchhoff rod model describes the deformation behavior of elastic rods interacting with boundary conditions. We characterize the set of all equilibrium states admitted by this model, assuming spatially-varying cross sections, and present an algorithm to compute the geometry of a rod that will produce a prescribed equilibrium state.
