Long synopsis: In the middle of the night, atop a small-town church, a ghost climbs inside a birdplane and takes flight. The object travels past a house, across the windows of three brothers; Julian, Philip and Eric. They sit in their respective rooms and watch the ethereal object as it disappears into dawn. The next day, the three brothers attend a funeral. An open casket reveals the body of a large, bearded man, the same one who flew from the top of the church the night before. Staring at the gardener's body, the three brothers lose themselves in their imaginations. Eric climbs up a flower tree that sprouts beneath the gardener's body. At the top, He finds the butterfly he had been chasing. Philip finds himself in a vast field of red roses. He follows a stream of birdplanes traveling through the skies across the hills. Julian is transported into a labyrinth of clocks. He catches fright and tries to find his way out of the interminable maze. After the funeral, the three brothers are each left questioning the reality of their world.
