Biography
Professor Ariel Shamir is the former Dean of Efi Arazi school of Computer Science at Reichman University (previously known as the Interdisciplinary Center) in Israel. Prof. Shamir received his Ph.D. in computer science in 2000 from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas in Austin before joining IDC. He was a visiting scientist at Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs in Cambridge MA (2006), MIT and Disney Research (2013).
Prof. Shamir has more than 150 publications in journals and international refereed conferences and holds 17 patents. He has a broad commercial experience working with, and consulting high-tech companies and institutes in the US and Israel.

His main research field lies at the intersection of graphics and vision with machine learning. More specifically, shape analysis, 3D modeling and fabrication, image and video processing and also typography and art.
