Alvaro Cassinelli is a multidisciplinary researcher, inventor and artist with a broad range of interests and effective collaborations in the arts and sciences. Born in Uruguay, he obtained an Engineering Degree in Telecommunications and a PhD in Physics in Paris before moving to the University of Tokyo where he created the MetaPerception group, a research unit interested in exotic technologies capable to enhance human communication and expression and hence the vocabulary of the New Media Arts. He is presently Associate Professor and director of the Augmented Materiality Lab at the School of Creative Media in Hong Kong.
